WordPress or Astro? Start with how your team will use the site

WordPress and Astro can support different ways of building and maintaining a website. If several people need to publish content through a familiar editing interface, that need matters. If the site is mainly a custom presentation of content, another workflow may fit. Decide by examining editing, functionality, integrations and who will look after the result once it is live.

When does WordPress fit the way you work?

WordPress is an option when people need to add and update pages or posts regularly through a content editor. It is also relevant when WooCommerce is part of the project. Having a CMS does not remove the need to define page types, permissions, content, extensions, updates and ownership. Ask exactly what your team must edit and how often, instead of stopping at the question “Can we edit it ourselves?”

When does Astro deserve consideration?

Astro can suit a content-led website with a tailored interface and a deliberately planned publishing process. That does not mean content can never be edited or that Astro makes every real project faster. What matters is how content is created, checked and published. If your team needs a particular editor or approval process, that requirement must be designed into the solution.

Compare the needs before choosing the technology

QuestionA reason to consider WordPressA reason to consider Astro
Who publishes?Several editors need to work directly in a CMS.Publishing can follow a defined workflow designed for the project.
What are you building? The project includes, for example, a WooCommerce store. The main task is presenting content in a tailored experience.
What must connect?Review integrations against the proposed installation.Review the same data flows and where they will run.
Who maintains it?Plan updates, extensions and permissions.Plan publishing, dependencies and ownership of the code.

The table starts a discussion; it is not an automatic recommendation. Security, accessibility and performance have to be built and verified in the specific implementation, whichever approach you choose.

Why did we use Astro for NajlepszeLowisko?

We moved NajlepszeLowisko from WordPress to Astro while also revisiting its interface and content structure. The work included automated checks and manual keyboard navigation. The case shows how we matched technology to one client's content and editing needs.

What should you tell a prospective supplier?

Who needs to change content? Does a store or another service need to exchange data with the site? Which parts must your team manage? Who owns maintenance after launch? You do not need all the answers yet. They are the questions we can work through with you.
